Suits our families need for filtered water. Fills quickly. Just be sure to completely emptying before refilling.
This is the perfect size water filter for a single person or for multi family members. The size is still small enough yet you have the option to use 2 filters or just one depending on your needs. Versatility, price and looks makes this product ahead of the others.
I recommend this water filter, very happy, it would be even better if we could see through it in order to fill with water again when needed and also if it would have a float valve to prevent it from flooding, but with practice we figure it out. I recommend it. I was concern about my drinking water and now I am using it for cooking, drinking and even for soaking my sprounting seeds. Very happy.
The shipper was great. Don't be surprised by how small the box is. I thought they forgot something because the shipping box is so small. This thing makes great tasting water. I have one element installed and after a week of break in it is filtering about a gallon overnight with no problem. I don't have any leaking problems. I will probably buy the sight glass spigot in the future. It is hard to judge how much water is filtered in the bottom and I find myself lifting the top off all the time to check. There are two adults and a child drinking from this and it just keeps up with our demand. If you have more people get a bigger filter.
I had been using the Berkey Travel portable water purifier for several years. I was curious to see if any improvements had been made in gravity water purifiers and decided to check out the Propur system. I am glad I did. This one has a better filter and a better spigot. The filter is much easier to prime--you just need to let water run freely through the stem for a minute without forcing it through as with the Berkey filter. Plus the Propur filter removes Chlorine and Fluoride which the Berkey doesn't unless you buy the additional Berkey PF-2 filter which is specifically for removing fluoride. It hangs underneath the top filter--so you need two Berkey filters for every Propur filter. The Propur filters needs to be changed once a year. The regular Berkey filters w/o the fluoride filters do last longer--something like 2 to 4 years. There is a specific formula provided to help you determine when to change the filter. The Propur filter has a faster flow rate than the Berkey. There is a metal spigot on the Propur while the Berkey uses a rubber spigot. The metal spigot has much higher flow rate than the rubber one. I can also taste the difference of the water from the Propur. It tastes much better.
