Filters quickly

Filtering chlorine and fluoride from town water. I like the size, rubber bottom, and rate that it filters. I keep it on the counter at all times and use it for all drinking water, including dog bowl.

Great pitcher, long lasting filter (amazingly cheap per gallon)

After extensive searching online for reviews on all filter pitchers listed as best of, or best 10, and such on various sites I found many had expensive filters that only did say 200 gallons - so each gallon was expensive, But this one does 2000 gallons with one filter that costs little enough to be pennies per gallon. That got my attention, plus most all the reviews were positive. So I bought it and love it. It filters one pitcher of water (10 to12 cups) fast as in maybe 5 minutes (or less). It features a rubber ring around the bottom such that it sits gently on a counter and does not easily slide. The pour spout pours a bit slowly but that is the only criticism I saw about it, and really it is no problem. The refill opening in the top is easy to hold open for filling it and the handle is strong, smooth and comfortable, It seems rugged, and works as promised. I might like to see test results after say 200, 500, 1000, and then 2000 gallons, but so far the water tastes fine and I have to take their word that it is doing a good job. I got the Fluoride version of the filter. One caveat: they say to soak the filter 20 minutes then rinse it and then toss out the first two pitchers but we still kept getting black dust in the bottom (I expect was charcoal dust). But that resolved after 5 or 6 pitchers full had been run (and we used all that water on our plants) so take that instruction to run two pitchers thru with a grain of salt and just refill it until you see no black dust in the bottom. Otherwise it is great. One minor suggestion to the manufacturer - move the manual month/day indicator further back toward the refill opening as if you pour while there is still water to be filtered in the upper chamber, it can leak out of that dial. Alternative fixes: put it on top without a opening into the upper chamber or add an o-ring. But if you let if fully filter through to the lower chamber that is never an issue, and it is minuscule anyway - a drop or two unfiltered gets in the glass you are pouring into.

CRYSTAL QUEST® SMART / FLUORIDE REMOVAL WATER PITCHER FILTER CARTRIDGE REMOVES FLUORIDE ALONG WITH CHLORINE, CHLORAMINES, THEIR BY-PRODUCTS, INORGANIC COMPOUNDS, HEAVY METALS WHILE REACTING WITH WATER HARDNESS WHICH RESULTS IN ENHANCED ALKALINITY.

Step 1: Eagle Redox Alloy® 6500, removing or reducing chlorine and water-soluble heavy metals (Arsenic, Mercury, Lead, Chromium, Cadmium). It controls scale, bacteria and algae. The process medium received International Certification and is certified by Standard 42 – Drinking Water Treatment Units – Aesthetic Effects. This medium is also in compliance with California’s Health and Safety Code Section 166875 (or commonly known as AB1953) and Vermont Act 193.

Step 2: Eagle Redox Ally® 9500 removes or reduces iron and hydrogen sulfide from municipal or other water supplies. Also controls scale, bacteria and algae. Eagle Redox can remove up to 99% of water-soluble lead, mercury, nickel, chromium, and other dissolved metals.

Step 3: The ion exchange resin reduces heavy metals such copper, Zinc, aluminum and water hardness. Certified by the WQA to 61 Standard. Water Regulations Advisory Scheme Approved

Step 4: Coconut Shell Granulated activated carbon and Catalytic activated carbon reduces chlorine, chloramine, bad tastes, and odors, reduces pesticides (lindane, atrazine and 2, 4-D) and chemicals that are linked to cancer risk (benzene, TTHMs, and toxaphene).
